An ACTIVE status on Sunbiz records that the entity's state filings are in order; it is not a statement that a company is operating. We have not been able to read any Florida chapter 727 assignment for the benefit of creditors for this company in the Escambia County clerk's court index, so no such filing and no filing date are stated here. Each row is checked against federal bankruptcy dockets and the court-appointed claims agent's site (Kroll, Stretto, Epiq), Florida DBPR license records, Sunbiz filings, attorney general releases and the company's own statements. Frequently asked questions
My solar company went bankrupt. What happens to my loan?
The installer and the company that holds your loan, lease or PACE assessment are often different companies. Your most recent statement names the company that bills you today, and the rows above show which lenders and servicers are themselves in a bankruptcy filing. The FTC Holder Rule (16 CFR 433.2) requires certain consumer credit contracts to include a notice about claims and defenses against the seller. Whether it reaches a particular loan is a question for a Florida attorney.
Who handles my warranty after a solar company closes?
It depends on who issued it. Panel, inverter and battery warranties usually come from the manufacturer, and each manufacturer publishes its own claim process; ADT's solar help page, for example, sends former ADT Solar customers to the manufacturers. A workmanship warranty came from the installer itself. Where a buyer or servicer took over accounts, the rows above name the company that says it now services them.
How do I check whether my installer filed for bankruptcy?
Start with this tracker; every row links to its sources. You can also search PACER, the federal courts' records system, by the company's legal name (it can differ from the brand on your contract), open the claims agent's website listed on a row, and look up the company's Florida license on the DBPR license search and its filing status on Sunbiz. A company can show as active on Sunbiz after it has stopped operating, so check more than one record.
My installer is on this list. Where do I start with my records?
Gather what you have: the contract, the loan, lease or PACE paperwork, your latest statement, any permit number, and photos of the system and roof. Write down the dates your paperwork shows: contract signing, install, final inspection, Permission to Operate (PTO), first loan bill. A Florida attorney can tell you what those dates mean.
