Frequently asked questions

My solar company went bankrupt — do I still owe the loan?

Usually yes — the loan or PACE assessment survives the installer's bankruptcy. But the FTC Holder Rule may let you raise the installer's failures against the lender, your equipment warranties survive with the manufacturers, and Florida consumer-protection law still applies. Don't stop paying on your own — document everything and talk to a Florida attorney first.

Who honors my warranty after a solar company closes?

The installer's workmanship warranty (roof penetrations, wiring) usually dies with the company. But panel, inverter, and battery warranties come from the manufacturers (Enphase, SolarEdge, Tesla, and others) and generally survive — you can file claims with them directly under federal warranty law.

How do I find out if my installer filed for bankruptcy?

Check this tracker first — we verify against actual court dockets monthly. You can also search the company on the federal PACER system, look for a claims-agent portal (Kroll, Stretto, Epiq), or check its BBB profile for an out-of-business flag.

My installer is on this list — what should I do first?

Document your system now: permit status, Permission to Operate, production data, your contract and loan paperwork, and photos of any roof damage. If there's an active bankruptcy, claim deadlines matter. We do this documentation for homeowners and connect them with vetted Florida attorneys — the first review is free.
