No bankruptcy filing located — this was a corporate division shutdown, not a bankruptcy. ADT Inc. announced the residential-solar exit in a January 24, 2024 SEC Form 8-K after roughly $89 million in adjusted-EBITDA losses over the first nine months of 2023; it had already closed 22 of 38 solar branches in November 2023.

Florida license status

Not verified — FL DBPR shows 'ADT SOLAR LLC' only as an electrical-business tracking record with no license number, status, or expiration populated. The company's former licenses page (adtsolar.com, now offline — domain did not resolve when checked 7/3/2026) listed FL roofing license CCC1332319. Treat as no verifiable active FL license.

Complaint themes on BBB: misleading savings pitches, third-party door-knockers selling under the ADT name, roof leaks from improper installation, and warranty requests that went unanswered for months.

Reported problems

Roof leaks and mounting problems from rushed installs, and systems that never hit the promised savings. Warranty tickets can sit for months, but ADT is still a solvent company that says it will honor its 25-year warranties — so a persistent, well-documented claim may get a repair, which is more than customers of the bankrupt installers can say. Watch for contracts signed with third-party sales outfits using the ADT name; the paperwork may not match who actually did the work.

“But the lender already paid ADT Solar / SunPro — aren't I stuck?”

1. The FTC Holder Rule notice. Many consumer loan contracts that finance a sale carry the notice the FTC requires, which states that the holder of the loan is subject to the claims and defenses the buyer could raise against the seller, with recovery capped at the amount paid. 2. The funding paperwork. Solar lenders usually release money to the installer on a completion certificate, often e-signed on a tablet. The certificate's date, and whether the system had a final inspection and permission to operate by then, are in the records.
3. Florida and federal consumer rules. FDUTPA (Florida's deceptive and unfair trade practices statute) and TILA (federal truth-in-lending disclosure rules) set out what sellers and lenders must disclose and may not do. Whether either reaches a particular sale or loan is a question for a Florida attorney.
