FLORIDA HOMEOWNERS · SOLD BY VISION SOLAR
Sold by Vision Solar? You Have Options — Even If They're Gone.
Hit with state lawsuits over deceptive door-to-door sales and left customers with unfinished, non-permitted installs. If your system never produced power, never received permission to operate, or your loan is still billing while nothing works — you are not stuck. We document the gap, connect you with a vetted Florida attorney, and remove the system if it has to come off.
What we typically see on Vision Solar jobs
Common Lenders
Commonly GoodLeap and Sunlight Financial.
Under the FTC Holder Rule, the lender that financed your install is legally on the hook for the installer's lies and broken promises — even if Vision Solar is gone.
Patterns We Document
Permits never closed, inspections never passed, and loans that started billing before anything was energized.
That paperwork — no PTO, no final inspection, the funding certificate that closed before the system worked — is exactly what an attorney needs.
The record on Vision Solar — verified
Compiled from court dockets, Florida DBPR records, BBB profiles, and published reporting. Verified July 2026 — sources below.
Out of business — shut down in late 2023 and filed Chapter 7 while under enforcement by the Florida, Arizona (with FTC/DOJ), and Connecticut attorneys general; Connecticut holds a $5 million stipulated judgment (2024) the bankrupt estate likely cannot pay.
- Bankruptcy / court record
- Vision Solar, LLC, Case No. 23-21939-JNP, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, District of New Jersey, Chapter 7, filed December 28, 2023. Trustee: Maureen P. Steady. Customers made up ~65% of creditors, with customer claims totaling roughly $10.4 million.
- Florida license status
- Not verified — no Florida contractor license record located in public sources (DBPR check recommended before publishing a license claim).
- Complaint record
- BBB (Blackwood, NJ): 1.19/5-star average before shutdown, ~350 BBB complaints in the prior 3 years, and only 12 of 243 reviews at 3 stars or better; profile now unrated as out of business. Florida AG's court filing cited at least 180 consumer complaints (WFTV).
- Florida footprint
- Real Florida presence: an office in Deerfield Beach (CBS12 I-Team) with door-to-door and telemarketed sales producing complaints across Central Florida (Kissimmee/Orlando area) and South Florida (Port St. Lucie, Palm Beach County). The FL AG complaint was filed in the Ninth Judicial Circuit, Orange County.
- Financing seen on their installs
- Verified in Florida reporting: Dividend Solar Finance (a Fifth Third Bank company) — the FL AG received 15 complaints specifically about Dividend, and Fifth Third acknowledged a 17-state AG coalition examining Dividend's lending practices and installer relationships (CBS12, Feb 2024). One documented FL example: a $42,000 loan billing to 2047 on an inactive system. Our site's 'GoodLeap and Sunlight Financial' claim was NOT independently confirmed for Vision Solar — recommend updating to Dividend/Fifth Third.
- What we see on their Florida jobs
- Installs done without permits and panels never connected to the grid while loans started billing anyway; failed or never-completed permitting that left customers with fines and liens; roof damage; and promised savings that never appeared. FL AG specifics: FDUTPA suit filed December 2023 (announced Dec. 4, 2023) in Orange County's Ninth Judicial Circuit, citing 180+ complaints and seeking a permanent injunction plus consumer refunds. Separately, DOJ/FTC and Arizona sued in August 2023 (U.S. et al. v. Vision Solar LLC, D. Ariz., 2:23-cv-01387) over telemarketing violations and unsubstantiated savings claims.

“But the lender already paid Vision Solar — aren't I stuck?”
Usually it's the opposite. The fact that your financer handed money to Vision Solar for a system that never worked is often where your leverage begins — not where it ends.
- The Holder Rule puts the lender in Vision Solar's shoes. Nearly every solar loan contract carries the FTC's required Holder Rule notice. So “they never delivered a working system” can be raised against the loan itself — not just against a contractor that may be bankrupt.
- How they released the money is often the problem. Solar lenders fund installers on a completion certificate — frequently e-signed on a tablet. We regularly see proceeds released before the system was ever operational.
- You didn't get what you paid for. No working system is a failure of what you bargained for. Layered with FDUTPA (Florida's deceptive practices statute, attorney's fees recoverable) and TILA (federal truth-in-lending, hidden dealer fees), that funding gap is exactly what an attorney builds a claim around.
Important: don't just stop paying on your own — that can damage your credit and weaken your position. We document the gap first, then your attorney disputes it with the evidence already in hand.
