Florida Solar Exit

FLORIDA HOMEOWNERS · SOLD BY PINK ENERGY / POWER HOME SOLAR

Sold by Pink Energy / Power Home Solar? You Have Options — Even If They're Gone.

Filed for bankruptcy in 2022 and shut down nationwide after thousands of complaints about systems that never produced power. If your system never produced power, never received permission to operate, or your loan is still billing while nothing works — you are not stuck. We document the gap, connect you with a vetted Florida attorney, and remove the system if it has to come off.

What we typically see on Pink Energy / Power Home Solar jobs

Common Lenders

Often financed through GoodLeap and Solar Mosaic.

Under the FTC Holder Rule, the lender that financed your install is legally on the hook for the installer's lies and broken promises — even if Pink Energy / Power Home Solar is gone.

Patterns We Document

We typically see undersized systems, failed battery units, and no PTO — homeowners paying for solar that never turned on.

That paperwork — no PTO, no final inspection, the funding certificate that closed before the system worked — is exactly what an attorney needs.

The record on Pink Energy / Power Home Solar — verified

Compiled from court dockets, Florida DBPR records, BBB profiles, and published reporting. Verified July 2026 — sources below.

Permanently ceased operations nationwide in fall 2022 and is being liquidated under Chapter 7 — there is no successor company to honor warranties or service systems.

Bankruptcy / court record
In re Power Home Solar, LLC d/b/a Pink Energy, Case No. 22-50228, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Western District of North Carolina, Chapter 7, filed October 7, 2022. Estimated 25,000–50,000 creditors and roughly $140 million owed; Jimmy Summerlin appointed Chapter 7 Trustee.
Florida license status
Not verified — no Florida contractor license located; the company had no documented Florida operations (see footprint).
Complaint record
BBB (Mooresville, NC profile) carries a formal pattern-of-complaints alert for sales-practice and customer-service issues (promised bill savings that never materialized, activation delays, installation defects, property damage); not BBB accredited. SolarReviews: 2.48/5 stars across 549 reviews, listed 'Out of Business.'
Florida footprint
IMPORTANT CORRECTION FOR OUR SITE: no documented Florida sales or installs. Per SolarReviews, the company operated in ~15 states (NC, VA, OH, MI, IN, TN, IL, SC, MO, PA, plus GA, KS, KY, TX, WV) — Florida is not among them. Florida-specific relevance is indirect: the same Generac PWRcell/SnapRS equipment failed here too — a SnapRS class action was filed in the Middle District of Florida (Haak v. Generac, Oct 2022) by non-Pink-Energy customers, and Generac's $15M PWRcell SnapRS settlement has a claim deadline of Aug 24, 2026. Recommend reframing or removing this entry's FL 'we see them' language.
Financing seen on their installs
Five lenders were formally named in the November 2022 nine-state AG letter urging payment suspension for Pink Energy customers: GoodLeap, Solar Mosaic, Sunlight Financial, Dividend Solar Finance, and Cross River Bank (same five listed in the Equifax 'Pink Energy Loans' FCRA class settlement). Our site currently lists only GoodLeap and Mosaic — should be broadened.
What we see on their Florida jobs
Systems that underproduce or never turned on while the loan kept billing, and widespread Generac SnapRS component failures (devices that overheat, melt, and have caused at least three house fires; a ~50% failure rate was alleged in litigation). With the company liquidated, every warranty is orphaned. Pink Energy itself blamed Generac in a pre-bankruptcy lawsuit claiming millions in damages from the faulty parts.

“But the lender already paid Pink Energy / Power Home Solar — aren't I stuck?”

Usually it's the opposite. The fact that your financer handed money to Pink Energy / Power Home Solar for a system that never worked is often where your leverage begins — not where it ends.

  1. The Holder Rule puts the lender in Pink Energy / Power Home Solar's shoes. Nearly every solar loan contract carries the FTC's required Holder Rule notice. So “they never delivered a working system” can be raised against the loan itself — not just against a contractor that may be bankrupt.
  2. How they released the money is often the problem. Solar lenders fund installers on a completion certificate — frequently e-signed on a tablet. We regularly see proceeds released before the system was ever operational.
  3. You didn't get what you paid for. No working system is a failure of what you bargained for. Layered with FDUTPA (Florida's deceptive practices statute, attorney's fees recoverable) and TILA (federal truth-in-lending, hidden dealer fees), that funding gap is exactly what an attorney builds a claim around.

Important: don't just stop paying on your own — that can damage your credit and weaken your position. We document the gap first, then your attorney disputes it with the evidence already in hand.
